Efficient Amodal Segmentation and 3D Detection using Rich 3D Features and Synthetic Augmentation

I challenged myself to participate in the 2022's S.T. Yau High School Science Award, it's a very difficult research competition targeting high school students all around the world. Luckily, it had a computer science section.

Being a veteran game developer by this time, I wanted to use my previous skills in computer graphics and imagery. After some research, I landed myself on the topic of Amodal Instance Segmentation. It might sound complicated, but the task was essentially to find all the objects in the scene, even with their hidden parts!

Difference between visible and amodal, in amodal, the hidden part is still segmented.
